Comments After Qualifying Run Krista Voda: Joey and I laughing about what he said, and what our audience heard, you said “thank goodness its over”, but I also heard you say this car could be very good for the race too. How good is that lap compared to how it’s going to race? Joey Logano: Well see, I don’t know where we are going to end up there with our qualifying run, but I think the car was okay in race trim, we weren’t by no means excellent but I think alot of it is just me getting used to this place, it’s so different, like I said qualifying alot of cars have been wrecking and all that stuff , you’re digging and as fast as you can right up against that wall, so it’s a fun race track, I am going to learn tonight in the nationwide series so well see get the home depot Toyota tomorrow. Krista Voda: Were you holding your breath? Joey Logano: Yeah I am breathing hard right now for some reason.

Joey Logano Southern 500 Pre-Race Comments Hermie Saddler: I’ve seen some of your Home Depot commercials, you’ve got a little bit of a heard start with the fan base all these home depot employees, are you going to rally those folks to try to get you into the all star race, if you are not able to win tonight? Joey Logano: Oh Yeah, were going to try like heck to get the home depot associates behind us and any other fans we can, you know, it’s going to be real big to be in the all star race, the 20 team itself has won a race last year so, they deserve to be in the race you know. We are going to try to win here tonight or get in the open there, but well try like heck and see what we can do hopefully the fans will help us though. Hermie Saddler: Now if I look down the list of race tracks for rookie drivers to get his best qualifying run of the season, I am sure I’d pick Darlington. You surprised some people but its got to be a big confidence booster for you and your team starting up front here is very important. Joey Logano: Yeah its huge really, if you look at our practice speeds to where we qualified, it was a huge pickup so, I think just looking back, getting out of the car, looking back at where we are getting beat and talking to Kyle and trying to figure out everything I can do, to make myself a better race car driver around this place and the team working real hard, kinda of put it all together and had a good qualifying run so, I think our current race trim was better than it was in qualifying trim, at least it was in practice, so hopefully we can stay up there and get a good solid running tonight. Hermie Saddler: How many times so far this week have you heard, from either Greg Zipadelli, I know you took some laps with Cale Yarborough a couple of weeks ago, how many times have you heard “race, the race track”? Joey Logano: That’s all I hear race the race track, that’s the biggest thing, and timing cars when you pass them, you know lap traffic or something like that when you catch them is the real big deal, I figured that out alot last night in the nationwide race. You can get behind a car that is a second slower than you, but if catch them in the wrong spot on the race track, you’re stuck there, you’re a second slower the whole lap so, I feel like I learned alot there, still got alot more to learn today, I feel like I’ve got a good home Depot Toyota today.
