Joey Logano started the Samsung Mobile 500 in the 8th position, his best starting position at the Texas Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Things were going smoothly for Joey Logano until Lap 58. During a yellow flag pit stop, the 00 of David Reutimann would make contact with Logano on pit road. The number 20 machine would sustain front and rear damage on the left side of the car. The toe on the car was also knocked out, which would affect the handling of the race car.

Logano would go one lap down on Lap 88, he was running 34th at the time. The Home Depot Racing team would attempt to fix the machine during the yellow flag pit stops. However with the damage on the car, the team was not able to repair the car back to 100 percent.

At the end of the Samsung Mobile 500, Logano would cross the finish line in the 24th position, three laps down. With his 24th finishing position, Logano slides down one spot in the point standings. Logano is currently in the 28th position in the point standings.

“I wish I knew what we had to do,” Logano said, speaking of his unfortunate streak. “The car was pretty loose to begin with but we were getting better. Leaving the pit after our second stop we just get turned into. I think I saw it about to happen maybe half a second before I got hit. The hit knocked the toe out so it was a handful for about 50 laps or so but once we got it fixed I felt like we might be able to put ourselves in position to get the Lucky Dog. There was just too long of a green-flag run there. It’s just disappointing because this team’s been running much better than the results show.”

Next week it’s onto the Talladega Superspeedway where Logano has an average finishing position 13.2 and a total of 22 laps led at the track.
