The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest
The Home Depot Team and its driver Joey Logano will compete this weekend in the Geico 400 at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday. Logano will be making just his third start at the track south of Chicago. Logano has top-20 finishes in both starts at the Speedway, but will be looking for his first top 10 on Sunday. His best start and finish are both 18th. Logano and the No. 20 Home Depot Team battled through a disappointing night at Chicagoland Speedway in 2010 for the Saturday evening race. Excited for the start of the race after solid practice sessions on Friday, the team encountered handling issues from the drop of the green flag and had to settle for a 19th-place finish when all was said and done.- Meet Logano! Logano will make an appearance on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at the Joliet, Ill., Home Depot store at 3001 Plainfield Rd. The appearance will take place from 5:30 – 7 p.m. CT. The No. 20 Home Depot Toyota will be there in addition to the autograph signing by Logano. Wristbands will be distributed starting at 4:30 p.m. to the first 700 fans. On Thursday, Logano will stop by the Naperville Toyota Dealership from 1:30 – 3 p.m. CT to sign for fans and customers as well.
- The Home Depot Toyota will continue to honor The Celebration of Service, a partnership between The Home Depot Foundation and the Mission Continues to improve the homes and lives of veterans and their families, during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races until Nov. 11 (Veterans Day). The goal of Celebration of Service is to complete more than 200 projects during the two month time frame to “Serve Those Who Served Us All.” The rear quarter panel of the No. 20 car will carry a special Celebration of Service decal while the crew members will have patches on their uniforms and wear hats showcasing the unique partnership. Fans can show their support by purchasing a 3 Doors Down CD from www.homedepot.com with $1 of the sale going directly to the veterans’ housing initiatives or purchasing a specially-themed Home Depot gift card with 5 percent of the value placed on the card going to nonprofit organizations also serving the housing needs of veterans. For more information visit www.homedepotfoundation.org and www.missioncontinues.org.
- Logano and his crew chief Greg Zipadelli will head to Gillette Stadium and Patriots Place in Foxboro, Mass. prior to the race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Thursday, Sept. 22. The pair will tour the stadium and head to the field during the New England Patriot’s practice session. The pair will then head over to CBS Scene Restaurant at Patriots Place for a question and answer session and an autograph signing with fans. The fan event will begin at 2 p.m. ET and will also include chances to win tickets to the NHMS race as well as other give-a-ways.
- About the last race: Logano and The Home Depot Team still had a mathematical chance of making The Chase for the Sprint Cup heading into Richmond International Raceway, unfortunately a blown engine at lap 296 of the 400-lap event took them out of contention. Logano was scored 35th when the checkered flag fell and dropped four spots in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings to 22nd.
- Zipadelli and the No. 20 Home Depot Team are bringing chassis #323 this weekend for the 267-lap race at Chicagoland Speedway. This is a new chassis for The Home Depot Team. The back-up chassis is #303 which raced in the first Michigan race this season and crossed the stripe in the 18th position.
