Joey Logano Ford 400 Preview
The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest
- Joey Logano and The Home Depot Team are hoping to finish the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup season strong at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday. They are coming off consecutive finishes of seventh, sixth, fifth, fourth and third over the past five races and look to continue the streak this weekend. Logano has earned the fourth most points, only the three championship contenders are ahead of him, over the past nine races.
- Logano and The Home Depot Team remain 16th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver point standings with their third-place finish last weekend. They are now just a mere 17 points out of the top 15 behind Ryan Newman.
- The team returns to Homestead-Miami Speedway where Logano has just one Cup start to his career. The team was running in the top 15 last year when the end plate on the wing was knocked off during a pit stop and needed to be replaced. The extra stop dropped the team back to the 33rd position, the last car on the lead lap. Logano was able to work his way up to 24th before the checkered flag waved.
- The No. 20 Home Depot Team is taking chassis #290 this weekend for the season finale. This is a new chassis in the Home Depot Team’s stable. The back-up chassis is #287 which Logano piloted to a seventh-place finish at Charlotte and most recently to a fourth-place finish in Texas.
- Logano and The Home Depot Team have seen tremendous improvement from last season. Logano has earned seven top-five and 16 top-10 finishes this season, which more than doubles his top finishes from last year.
- Logano will be making an appearance at the Coca-Cola Fuels NASCAR Championship Drive on Thursday night in Miami Beach. In addition to Logano and some of his NASCAR competitors, the Zac Brown Band will also be performing for the fans.
- Welcome aboard The Home Depot associates from store #2036 in Hammond, Ind. The store number will be displayed on the rear quarter panel of The Home Depot Toyota for the final race of the 2010 season. According to Hammond’s website, one of their garbage trucks is currently running on biofuel made 100 percent from vegetable oil to take advantage of a renewable resource.
Joey Logano quotes on Homestead:
“The last races have been such a momentum builder for this team. I said it when I got out of the car at Phoenix, to finish seventh, sixth, fifth, fourth and third over the past five races is amazing. We really want to finish 15th in points and to be honest not too long ago it didn’t really look like we’d be able to do it. Now we are just 17 points behind (Ryan) Newman in that 15th position.”
“I’m really proud of the way The Home Depot Team has been working together and we’re communicating so well and that’s translated on the race track. I can tell you this, it is a lot more fun running up front and running with the guys in the Chase. It’s a confidence booster for me and I think for the entire team. Running as well as we are already has me looking forward to next season.”
