Interview After Win
Lindsay Czarniak: A year ago, Joey Logano made his cup debut here in preparation for his first full time series, in the sprint cup series, and now ironically this is where you get your first win. Tell me how baldly your heart was beating waiting to see if the race would end this way?
Joey Logano: I never though I’d been the one, it kind of bit us in Charlotte, we had the same opportunity to do this and we didn’t do it, this is the opportunity we had, we didn’t have nothing to lose and Zippy made a great call, I gotta thank the Home Depot, I gotta thank Sprint, all the fans, Coca Cola, who else we got, Toyota, all those guys, this is a dream come true, and this is the best race track we could have at it.
Lindsay Czarniak: We’re moving out of the way to let Joey’s car in, and Joey I also want to ask you, you told me three days ago, that this place still kinda of freaked you out, but this is your home town track, how much more special does this make this?
Joey Logano: It make’s it that more special believe me, we struggled a little bit in practice, I felt like I was starting to figure it out, last run of the race really, we picked up about 4 tenths of a second, I was like whoa now is where we need to be, and you know luckily, we saved enough fuel, we made a pit stop there at the end before the last green flag run, so we had a little bit more fuel than every body else, and that’s what it took.
Lindsay Czarniak Go celebrate with your teammates, Joey Logano becomes the youngest driver to get this win, 19 years old.
