Joey Logano 2011 Ford 400 Preview

The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest

  • Joey Logano and The Home Depot Team are Miami bound for the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It will be Logano’s third start at the south-Florida track. An incident on lap 166 in last year’s race cut the team’s day short and it was relegated to a 39th-place finish.
  • Fans can meet Logano on Thursday at The Home Depot store in Hollywood, Fla. Logano will sign autographs from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the store located at 3401 Oakwood Blvd. In addition to the signing there will be photo opportunities with the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota. Wristbands will be distributed starting at 5 p.m. to the first 700 fans.
  • Logano and the No. 20 team participated in the EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) test at Daytona International Speedway on Tuesday. The test gave the team an opportunity to evaluate and prepare aerodynamic baseline packages for the January 12-14, 2012 Preseason Thunder Test at Daytona and ultimately the Daytona 500 in February.
  • About the last race: The Home Depot Team and Logano ran a solid race and recovered from being blocked in their pit stall to finish 11th at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday. Logano started from the 25th position, worked his way up to 17th, dropped back to 24th after the pit road issue and rallied to finish just outside the top 10 when the checkered flag waved at lap 312.
  • Crew chief Greg Zipadelli and the No. 20 Home Depot Team are bringing chassis #327 for the final race of the season on the 1.5-mile track. This will be just the second time this chassis has seen racing action. Logano drove this chassis at the most recent race at Kansas Speedway. The back-up chassis is #319 which most recently raced at Dover on Oct. 2. Logano first ran this chassis at Pocono where he captured the pole and ran in the top 10 most of the day before a cut tire with 12 laps to go dropped him to 26th place.
  • Logano sits 24th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver point standings following his 11th-place finish at Phoenix International Raceway. He is 18 points behind Martin Truex Jr. in 23rd heading into the season finale.

I can’t wait till February. I will miss watching you race. I was so happy to see you at Homestead signing your autograph for the people. I was the lady who yelled out, “Joey, I love you!” I really do love you Joey as a grandson. Unfortunately, I am too old to be anything else. I love to watch you race and I always pray for your safety. Take care, Joey, and have a wonderful two months off. As Mike McNabb said, Thanks for a great year, and looking forward to next year when you will be a chase ontender. I am absolutely sure you can do it.
