Nascar Preason Thunder

Tonight Joey Logano was on the show called “Nascar Preseason Thunder” on Speed TV. The show aired today Thursday, January 29th at 7pm Eastern time. In case you missed it, I have the rundown of some of the questions asked on the show, as well as the video that has been posted on youtube of the entire segment.

Steve Byrnes: I have to ask you, I thought all day what am I going to ask Joey Logano, when I was 18 at this time of year I was worrying about failing my astronomy course, I was in college, but you now are to take over the 20 for Tony Stewart, you’re headed for the Daytona 500, How do you manage expectations?

Joey Logano: I just kinda of just go with kinda of what I feel is right. I kinda of go out there and do the best I can, you know going to Daytona it’s kinda of a whole new thing, because I really haven’t done any drafting, haven’t got to race at Daytona yet. Didn’t do that preseason testing, so for me it’s going to be a little bit tougher I think than normal, but you know, I got a strong learning curve ahead of me, I got the Arca race, I got the nationwide race, so between all that, hopefully I will get a little bit of experience, and gain some respect from those guys in the shootout and hope to get some drafting partners.

Larry McReynolds: Joey I want to stay on the subject of expectations, I’ve watched since you were 9 or 10 years old and you have won right out of the box in almost everything you’ve raced in, bandoleros, Allison Legacy, ASA, you won in your third start in the nationwide series at Kentucky. Not the fan’s expectations, Not the media, that’s the one you gotta be careful of, the media’s expectation, what is Joey Logano’s expectation for 2009?

Joey Logano: I think we should go for the Raybestos Rookie of the year, I think that’s an achievable goal for the whole home depot bunch, and then from there kinda of see where it goes from there, we didn’t get to do a whole bunch of testing since the whole testing rule got kinda of put away, so we are going to have to keep learning as we keep going and kind of take things from track to track and learn from there, so, its kinda of how we are going to go for it, and do the best we can every weekend, and like I said, learn as much as we can, and put it to use.

Larry McReynolds: I like that answer!
