Comments After Qualifying Run

Shannon Spake: It was a great run for Joey Logano in the 20 car, how much does coming over to the nationwide series and a run like that help your confidence in both series.

Joey Logano: Oh its a ton you know to come over here and run up good with the GameStop Toyota and the whole 20 team does great over here with you know with Dave Rodgers leading us and all of the guys that work hard and it’s fun to come over here, this weekend is almost like an off weekend it feels like you’re not running back and forth and doing all that stuff so its pretty cool, like a one nighter and you come and have a good run tonight and have alot of fun.

Shannon Spake: Well this team is very happy with this 20 car, and a great run for them in qualifying.

Pre-Race Comments

Dave Burns: What a difference a year makes for Joey Logano when he came here last year, it was only his second nationwide series race ever although you did sit on the pole that way, didn’t turn out quite great for you that day, what’s the difference walking in here today at Nashville?

Joey Logano You kinda of know what to expect a little bit more, after being at a place more than once, at least you know what to kind of expect, the Gamestop Toyota is pretty good, actually surprised with the qualifying run, we were really good on old tires yesterday, we put on new tires we slew down actually, our qualifying run was slower than our race run so, I was impressed at how much we picked up, Dave Rodgers and the guys did awesome and looking forward to today, I think we’ve got a really good car.

Dave Burns: How about the confidence they have in you, they want you to win for the team, but they really do believe in you in this series.

Joey Logano Yeah, I think so, you know this is you know, it feels home for me right now, since I’ve had a year under my belt, I kinda of know what I am now over here and I’ve got a feel for these cars now and just having fun, I enjoy coming over here to the nationwide series and having a good time at Nashville.

Shannon Spake talked with Joey Logano’s Crew Chief heres what they said.

Shannon Spake: It’s hard to believe it’s been since July that the 20 team has been in victory lane, down here with Dave Rodger crew chief for this team, how satisfying is this win today Dave?

Dave Rodgers: I can’t tell ya, this is great, I feel like we’re back you know, Joey’s confidence is up, the team is performing well, I gotta hand it to all the Joe Gibbs racing guys at the shop this is a brand new race car that we built after we wrecked at Vegas, they put it together in a month, come out here and win a race, I gotta thank my engineers, we were terrible in qualifying trim yesterday, and my two engineers, we stayed up until midnight trying to figure out “ok how are we going to get this thing to qualify” Mike Lorusso, Ron Denton they came up with some good ideas,and we qualified outside pole and won it, so I am happy, can you tell? Happy Easter.

Dave Burns: And Joey I just want to tell you, the guitar has two batteries, two ignition boxes, and one motor and that’s you. Congratulations.

Joey Logano We needed all of them today, I guess we had an alternator problem but, the GameStop Toyota was good from the start, you know we kept loosening it up, loosening it up, I think the race track was getting tighter, as we kept going, and Dave Rodgers and this whole crew I tell you its awesome to have him back and it’s been too long since we’ve had this win that’s for sure, I just wanna to thank all the fans, and everyone for coming out here, this is just awesome. I am excited.
