For the first time in the number 20 car Joey Logano was not running a Gamestop paint scheme. This weekend, Joey Logano drove the Farm Bureau Insurance number 20 Toyota.

Dollar General 300 Qualifying Result

Logano was able to qualify in the 4th position for the Dollar General 300 race At Lowe’s. The winner for the pole would be Jamie Mcmurray.

Dollar General 300 Race Result

Early in the race, by lap 8 there was already 2 cautions on the track. However, by lap 9 we saw a brief shower roll by the Lowe’s Motorspeedway, and we had about a 10 minute red flag on the race track for rain.

After the track had cleared, and they went back to green Logano restarted in the 4th position, but by lap 18, Logano was already in the race lead. Joey over the radio commented that his car was tight.

On lap 47 Jeff Burton is able to get back the lead from Joey Logano, and 2 laps after that we saw the third caution flag of the race on lap 49. The pits were opened, and Logano made a four tire pit stop, and a wedge adjustment to try to take away the tightness of the car. After the pit stop, Logano was able to retake the lead on pit road.

One lap after the restart, Joey’s teammate Kyle Busch is able to pass Logano for the lead. Kyle Busch had started from the 16th position, and had been working is way from the midpack since the beginner of the race.

On lap 81, there is another caution on the race track. And on lap 83 Before the cars were able to be allowed on pit road for pit stops, the rains have moved back in again on the race track. This time, the rains showers are a bit heavier than the last time.

Under the red flag for the rain, Joey Logano is sitting in the third position, and the ESPN pit reporter was able to interview Joey Logano. Joey commented that the car was pretty good in the first run, however the car was a little bit snug. He also said that when he got the four fresh sticker tires, the car loosened up too much on him.

After the long red flag delay for rain a total of about 59 minutes, on lap 85, pit road was open for service, and alot of cars made their way onto pit road. Logano lost 3 positions on pit road, as other cars were on different strategies as some of the cars were anticipating the possibility of rain again. And if it were to rain again, the race would have likely ended as they were running.

At the end of the day Joey Logano led a total of 32 laps, in his first race at Lowe’s Motorspeedway, and Logano finished in the 14th position. Logano’s teammate Kyle Busch went onto win the race, Kyle led the most laps of the race, a total of 137 laps of the 200 race laps, to win his 9th race of the 2008 nationwide series.

Only 4 more races remain in the nationwide series, and Joey wil race in all of those 4 races. Next week the nationwide series has an off week. The following week, they will be racing at Memphis Motorsports Park on Saturday, October 25. The race will be Simulcast on ESPN Classic & SPEED starting at 3:00pm eastern time.
