Pre-Race Comments:

Vince Welch: First race back in the car for Joey Logano [since the dover crash], can you describe what the week has been like for you with all the attention surrounding that incident a week ago?

Joey Logano: It’s been interesting for sure, it’s not the way you want to make the headlines but, it is what it is obviously, I am just happy to be back in the race car, Our House Party GameStop Toyota, is pretty good I am pretty excited about the way it’s been running in practice, obviously we didn’t qualify where we wanted to but, I feel like we’ve got a really good race car today, and the good part is this car reminds me of Chicago, and Kentucky and those are two places we won this year, so I am looking forward to it.

Vince Welch: Absolutely those two wins have been on a mile and a half racetracks, what is it about the mile and a half seems to suit you best?

Joey Logano: I don’t know if its just me or I think Joe Gibbs racing in general with the mile and a half program on the nationwide side is way up to par, they do a great job over there and it’s going to be a good race this is always a fun race track, alot of people moving around out there but fast guys are going to be on the bottom I think.

Shannon Spake: Joey I know it’s been quite a week for you, with everything that has happened to you on the cup side, what does it mean to cap it with a victory here in the nationwide series with the 20 team?

Joey Logano: This is awesome, from last week to now, talk about a to z, that’s awesome, I needed to win, to stop everyone talking about you know if I am going to be alright, were definitely on a roll and, I think this should prove it, this is awesome for this whole 20 bunch they needed a win and its awesome to get this GameStop Toyota Our House Party Toyota back in here, this is a blast racing this car.

Shannon Spake: Now I know you didn’t hear the broadcast right before the last restart, Dave Rodgers, he said he didn’t think you had the car to get around the 18, how did you do it?

Joey Logano: Dig down deep, all I got, I just felt like I had a good restart and then the 88 was pushing the 18 ahead and he got in front of me, and that’s all I had, I knew I wasn’t going to get him on the bottom, I’d just get aero-tight all day, I couldn’t pass anyone on the bottom so, I just started working up top and driving my guts out for everything it was worth, driving, and stopping him, freakin right on the gas, so it was driving my brains out and it was fun so, these guys deserve it they needed to be back in victory lane, they are a winning team, and to get em back in here, it feels good, it’s a great feeling.

Shannon Spake: Yeah, like you said, it’s been 11 races, I know you’ve watched from the sidelines, as this 20 as struggled over this couple of months, what does it mean to you to look behind you, to see your guys to see Dave Rodgers back here where they should be in victory lane.

Joey Logano: It’s like I said, it’s great, I mean, I couldn’t ask for anything better, these guys they gave me probably the biggest pep talk I’ve ever had before the race started and you know that’s something that goes a long way for me, you pump me up and I go so, it’s pretty funny he asked me before the last restart he goes, how hungry are you? And I said I am starving. So, we got it here.
