This weekend, Joey Logano raced at Dover, the same race track that he made his first NASCAR nationwide series race in. In that first race,  he was able to make an impressive debut, and wound up finishing in the sixth position.

In both practice sessions the number 20 Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2009 GameStop Toyota Camry, was in the top 5. In the first practice session Joey was number 4 in the practice sheets, and during the final practice, was the third fastest car.

Joey qualified his car in the ninth position, with a qualifying time of 23.626, and a speed of 152.375 miles per hour. Logano’s teammate Kyle Busch took the pole, with a time of 23.189, and a speed of 155.246 mph. Busch was in the number 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota Camry.

The race went pretty good for Logano, but not trouble free. At one point, Logano was battling David Reutimann for the ninth position. They got real close together coming off the corner, and made some contact. The right side exhaust of the 99 car, cut the right rear tire of the number 20 car of Joey Logano. At that point, Joey had to come in to the pits during a green flag run. This put Joey Logano 2 laps down. However, Joey was able to rebound nicely, and was able to finish the 14th position.

Joey’s teammate Denny Hamlin, also rebounded from two laps down, early in the race he had a bad wheel vibration, and had to come in to change four tires to fix that problem, during a green flag run. Denny rebounded to finish in the sixth position, and Logano’s other teammate, Kyle Busch was the race winner, dominating on his way to victory lane, leading 157 of the 207 race laps run.

When will Joey race again in the Sprint cup?

Good question! And a simple answer, next week! He will be racing in the sprint cup at Kansas speedway in the Camping World RV 400 presented by Coleman. The race will air on Sunday starting at 1pm eastern time, on ABC.

Joey will be doing double duty, as he will also start in the Kansas race for the nationwide series. You can watch that race on Saturday, 3pm eastern time, on ESPN 2.
