On Lap 40, Brad Keselowski tapped into the back of the number of 99 of Carl Edwards, which sent Edwards into Logano and from there things went downhill for Logano as he finished in the 35th position.

With his 35th place finish at the Atlanta Motor Speedway Joey Logano has now slid back into the 14th position in the points.

Every month we put a Joey Logano Fan in the spotlight from the forum. This month’s fan of the month is Loganoteenfan15. She answers some questions for us.

What’s your name?

Kathleen McGuigan

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m 15 years old, I live in Rome in Upstate New York, i love karate, soccer and racing. When i graduate I plan on going to the Nascar Tech school to persue a career in racing.

What is your favorite food and drink?

I’d have to say Sunny-D and Tacos

How did you get into NASCAR?

I was into Nascar when i was little with my grandfather and we used to watch races togather and root for Rusty Wallace but when my grandpa died the year Rusty retired i stopped watching it for a couple years till in 2008 a friend of mine got me to watch the Daytona 500 and now i never miss a race, ever.

What’s your favorite race track?

Pocono(cause I’ve been there), Talladega, Bristol, and of course Daytona

How did you become a fan of Joey Logano?

I was watching my first Nationwide race because I heard Joe Gibbs hired a new driver and I thought he was a really awsome driver and a awsome person (plus he is not bad looking)

Have you met Joey Logano, and how did it go?

I haven’t met Joey yet but I hope to this year when I go to the Poconos

Do you have any other favorite drivers besides Joey?

In Sprint I like Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Kasey Kahne also. In Nationwide I like Colin Braun and Justin Allgire and the Sprint guys when they run. In truck I follow Aric Allmirola when he runs along with Kyle Busch.

Dick Berggren: Joey Logano, I am going to read this quote to you. Mark Martin in 2008 said, I am absolutely 100% that he, you, could be one of the greatest drivers that ever raced in NASCAR. Fifth last week, sixth this week, you are making progress.

Joey Logano: Progress for sure, I am so pumped up about it, to get two top 10 finishes in a row, with the Home Depot Toyota, I am really pumped up about it. Next week is probably going to be a tough one, I am assuming going into Atlanta, that was one of our tough tracks but we want to run good there thats the Home Depot’s headquarters and all the associates there so, Definitely going to try really hard to get another top 10, and you know the cool thing is you keep running up front like this and getting good top 10s, top 5s, eventually the wins are going to come so, I am pretty pumped up.

Joey Logano Comments After Qualifying Run

Krista Voda: Down here with Joey Logano, and when he brought his car in, I heard you say, I like this, are you talking about the race car?

Joey Logano: No I am just talking about the season in general, its been alot better than last year with the Home Depot Toyota, I tell ya, they did a good job with this thing. We were struggling a little bit after last season.. after last race where we qualified, I didn’t feel like we did a good job at California at keeping up with the race track when it came to qualifying time so, this week we did a whole lot better job, I don’t think I got another tenth in me to get the pole, I am happy with that you know, its cool to see us improving. I gotta thank the Home Depot and the associates for staying behind us, the guys back at the shop working hard. We struggled alot last year, and its motivating to me to be able to come back, and keep getting better runs, better qualifying times, and hopefully we can do this for the rest of the season.

The host of the show Mike Massaro opened the show by talking about Logano’s 2009 season, and then the recent accomplishments in the 2010 season. He compared how Joey did in 2009, and how so far all his numbers are significantly up. Mike asked Logano about his recent Top 5 finish in the Sprint Cup series, he also asked Joey to talk about the recent NASCAR Nationwide Series race that he had dominated but did not grab the win due to incident with Greg Biffle. He asked joey more questions, and after the interview was over former NASCAR Driver Rusty Wallace gave his thoughts on the Logano of 2009 vs the Logano of 2010.

Overall this was a fantastic interview, where Joey Logano handled himself very professionally, and looked like a veteran on TV. Check out the video to see for yourself!

Joey Logano was all smiles after the race at the Auto Club Speedway as he finished in the 5th position. Today Logano was the highest running Joe Gibbs Racing car at the end of the race. With his top five finish, right now Logano is currently 9th in the point standings, although it is early in the season, at this point it means Logano would make the chase.
