Talladega Arca Result

The first time Joey Logano raced in the Arca Remax series was at Rockingham. He dominated at Rockingham in his first start and took the checker flag for the win.

Today at Talladega, it was Joey’s second race in the arca race, and he was very impressive in his first ever restrictor plate racing, coming just short of a second victory in the Arca remax series.

Joey Logano led a total of over 15 laps today. And with 4 laps to go, Joey Logano was still in the lead, but the cars behind him were battling hard, and even going three wide. As they went into the 3rd lap, the number 60 car was able to get a huge run and get around Joey. At this point Joey was running in 2nd place and Justin Allgaier was behind him in 3rd.

With 2 laps to go, Joey keeps looking for the window of opportunity to go on the outside to get back around the 60 car to regain his lead. As they are coming to the take final lap, Joey and Justin go to the outside. And its at this time that Joey gets a huge help from Justin, and now Joey Logano was in the lead, on the final lap. Going into the backstretch, Justin Allgaier went to the outside of Logano and was able to pull off an incredible pass.

At the end, Logano finished in the second place, but he came very close to  being 2 for 2 in the Arca Remax series. Still though, Joey Logano holds an average finishing position of 1.5 in the Arca Remax series in 2008.

The winner for the race, Justin Allgaier who is from Springfield, IL, added one more win to his resume, as he now has 5 wins in the Arca series in 2008.

Joey Logano looked strong out front, and had a great car. A great job also by Joey Logano’s spotter for the Arca race Mark Robertson, Mark gave him alot of information and knowledge.

Talladega Testing

Joey Logano who earlier this year was victorious in an ARCA Remax race, at Rockingham speedway, just recently finished testing at Talladega Superspeedway in preparation for a first time race at Talladega on October 3rd, 2008.

One of the reasons for Logano to run in the ARCA race, is so that he can gain experience in plate racing, and the even bigger reason is that he needs to be approved by NASCAR, before he makes his first plate race in the Sprint cup series in Daytona 500 February race. Thus if he races in the ARCA race, he has a chance to get the stamp of approval by NASCAR. The approval process is something normal, and something all rookie drivers are required to get.

The first test session began on Wednesday, the tests were part of a two-day ARCA RE/MAX series open test session at Talladega.

The test session itself drew at least twenty drivers who were eager to test different setups, from qualifying, to race setups, in preparation for the upcoming ARCA race scheduled to be run on October 3rd, 2008.

Logano was at Talladega participating in the two-day ARCA Series test session that drew more than 20 drivers for a chance to try out setups for the Oct. 3 ARCA Re/Max 250 race.

Joey has been enjoying his test sessions at Talladega, and he has said that he has had a good time so far with the ARCA cars at Talladega.

You can watch the race on Speed TV, starting at 5pm Eastern time on Friday October 3rd, 2008.
