Joey Logano Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 Post Race Comments

Wendy Venturini: I am standing by with Joey Logano, young driver here that just finished that Arca Remax Series race, finished second Joey, man what a Shootout in that first race of your day today.

Joey Logano: “Yeah, We tried, we tried, we did everything we could, we got down a lap, got it back, and just digging on our way up there, and then had the green and white at the same time, it’s just hard to pass someone while you are trying to get up to speed. Tried laying back, and getting the run down the back straightaway, and just stalled out. The whole home depot crew did a great job there tonight, and you know I gotta thank the Venturini’s, and your brother Billy Venturini, I was trying to get him the win tonight, but just came a up a little short tonight.

Daytona Testing

logano arca 08 Today Joey Logano was in Daytona Beach, Florida. What was he doing there? He was, practicing for the upcoming race at Daytona in the Arca Remax Series. The practice session is part of a three day event, and testing will continue through tomorrow, and Sunday. Today though, a total of 48 drivers posted a lap time. With Joey Logano’s lap time being sixth quickest on the speed charts.

Logano practiced in the number 25 car, owned by Venturini Motorsports. Logano’s fastest lap time was 50.273, which equaled an average speed of 179.702.

Logano has never raced at Daytona, and come February, 7, 2009, he will attempt to make his first start Daytona International Speedway.

When February 17 comes, the young 18 year old Joey Logano, will have to pull off a Saturday night doubleheader.

When asked about his busy DIRECTV Speedweeks 2009 schedule, Joey Logano said, “I’m doing it”. “I’m running both races and then I’ve got the Nationwide race with the Game Stop Toyota and then running the Cup race with the Home Depot Toyota. Between all that, I’ve got my hands full.”

Not to mention the fact that Joey Logano will also be in the Daytona Gatorade Duel 150 mile qualifying races. Add all of that up, and Logano will be racing in a total of five events.

Joey also said that he is trying to get as many laps as he can, and he is trying to learn as much as he can. “I’ve got a big year ahead on the Cup side, I am doing whatever I can do to make myself better.”

There is also a chance for Logano to make some historical records. Most notable being the record for the youngest driver to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup, Daytona 500 race. The record was set by four time sprint cup champion Jeff Gordon. Jeff won the Daytona 500, in 1997 at the age of 25.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Logano said. “I’ve been here and watched a ton of races, watched the 500 a hundred times probably. I just want to get out there. We’re almost ready to go out there and just go around Daytona with all the history around this place.
