Watkins Glen International Weekend Preview

NASCAR will be turning left and right this weekend, as NASCAR heads to Watkins Glen International located in Watkins Glen, New York. Joey Logano will be doing double duty this weekend, driving in the Sprint cup and Nationwide series. Joey grew up racing on the short tracks of the country, but has spent plenty of time honing his skills on the road courses since coming into the NASCAR ranks. Recently, Logano tested with the #20 Joe Gibbs Racing Sprint Cup team at Road Atlanta to continue fine tuning abilities to turn left and right during a race weekend.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Preview

Joey Logano has only one start at the Glen in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series. In last year’s Heluva Good! at The Glen Logano started from the 35th position, and finished in the 16th position.

With only five races remaining until the chase, Logano is still in the 19th position in the point standings. Heading into last week’s Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500, the margin between Joey and 12th place was 205, but the gap is currently 235. With 5 races left, it is still mathematically possible for Logano to make the chase, but he will need consistent and strong run for the next 5 races.

NASCAR Nationwide Series Preview

It’s been nearly a month since Joey Logano and the number 20 GameStop Toyota have been on the track in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, last competing in the Dollar General 300 at Chicagoland Speedway on July 9, where Logano finished second. Now, Logano will be back in the number 20 Toyota with primary sponsor GameStop for 11 of the season’s final 14 events, starting this weekend at Watkins Glen International.

The number 20 GameStop Toyota will carry the colors of… GameStop this coming weekend at Watkins Glen International. The number 20 will carry the original black, red and white paint scheme of GameStop for the first time since the Dover event in May of 2009. Logano has competed at Watkins Glen International twice in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, finishing 7th in 2008 and 33rd in 2009 after getting pushed into the wall by another competitor while running in the top five.
