Happy New Year!!!
A Look Back at 2009
In his second year of NASCAR racing Joey Logano has continued his trend of improvement, silencing a majority of the critics and showing the world that he is the real deal here to stay. Lets look back at the 2009 season and some of the highlights.
Do you remember the first Home Depot Commercial of 2009? Do you still remember all of the Joey Logano Home Depot Rookie Profiles, or how about the time that Joey Logano hosted Monday Night WWE Raw, they were great to watch.
In total Joey Logano had 7 wins in 2009, the wins coming from the Nationwide, Sprint and Arca Remax Series. Joey Logano’s first win of 2009 came at the Nashville SuperSpeedway on April 11, 2009 in his number 20 GameStop Toyota. This would also be the first race that Joey finished in front of Kyle Busch, one of many in the 2009 season.
His second win of 2009 came at the Pocono Raceway in the Arca Remax series. Joey ran the race to get some extra experience for his Sprint cup race at the Pocono Raceway. This was also the race where I was lucky enough to get invited by the Logano family to the victory lane celebrations. A real big thank you to the Logano family for allowing me the opportunity, it was a real special day for sure!

The third win in 2009 came at the Kentucky Speedway on June 15, 2009 Joey ran the number 20 Prototype GameStop Toyota. In this race Joey passed Kyle Busch with 10 laps to go, and continued his streak of wins at the Kentucky Speedway. Joey Logano would also make history by being the first repeat winner at Kentucky.
Joey’s fourth win in 2009 came at the Dollar General 300 on July 10, 2009 at the Chicagoland Speedway. He ran the number 20 Wii Sports Resort GameStop Toyota. Joey held off Kyle Busch with only 2 fresh tires and tires that were 36 laps older than Kyle’s 4 fresh Tires. Kyle was quoted over the radio saying, “I can’t believe it dude he is driving away from me!”
His fifth win of the year, and Joey Logano’s First NASCAR Sprint Cup Win came at New Hampshire Motor Speedway his home track. This win would make History, as Joey Logano is now currently the youngest winner in the NASCAR Sprint Cup at 19 years old 1 month and 4 days beating the previous record set by Kyle Busch.
His sixth year of 2009 came at the Kansas Lottery 300 on October 3, 2009 at the Kansas Speedway. In this race Joey drove the number 20 Our House Party GameStop Toyota. With laps 4 to go, Joey made an impressive pass on Kyle Busch on the high side.
His last win in 2009 came at the Copart 300 on October 10, 2009 at the Auto Club Speedway. Joey Logano rebounded from an earlier incident in the race with Greg Biffle, at one point in the race he was running in the 25th position in the end he held off a charging Brian Vickers for the win.
Not only did Joey win seven times in 2009, but he also won the Raybestos Rookie of the Year in the Sprint Cup series a feat that has been accomplished by many other successful NASCAR drivers.
Off course there were other stories in 2009 that Joey Logano was a part of and this post does not encompass all the things Joey did in 2009 but it does cover alot of the good moments in 2009.
A look forward to 2010
The future is bright for Joey Logano, and in 2010 Joey will shine even more than he did in 2009 continuing his trend of improvement.
Happy New year everyone!
