driver contracts
Why is it that when a driver gets signed to a new contract its always a "multi year deal" they never say how many years like in other sports and it pisses me off because I want to know is it 2 years or 10?

RE: driver contracts
They are private contracts so there isn't an obligation to report the terms of the contract. It's a privilege to know and not a right.

Doesn't change the fact that its dumb not to say. Why hide it from the fans. its like saying "'Ok i'm going to buy a chocolate bar today but i'm not saying what kind"' lol. we all know your buying a chocolate bar, why not tell us what kind! lol.

Its not like we need to know the specifics like whether or not they get a massage package in their contract. just how long is it.

RE: driver contracts
Contracts for drivers mean one thing, sponsorship obligations. It doesn't mean length, pay, etc. I mean technically those things are included but they can be broken at anytime. However, here is the deal. If Joey wins, represents Shell, Hertz, Discount Tire, etc well, he will be a lifer at PRS. Why would you wan to leave the Captain.

RE: driver contracts
This just occured to me.

Shell/Pennzoil was listed as the primary sponsor of the #22 for the majority of the races this season BEFORE it was announced that they signed a multi-year extension to sponsor Joey.
Now I have no proof of this claim but with that evidence I believe that the new contract extension does not start until this year is over. Which (to me sounds like it) means that Shell/Pennzoil will be sponsoring Joey for "multiple years" AFTER the 2013 season.
Which leads me to believe that Joeys contract with Penske Racing is for AT LEAST 3 years.

Any thoughts?
