How is Matt coming over going to help Joey. Kyle and Denny don't like to share information as it is. You really think Kenseth will?

Here is one for all of us - yes, it is an oldie (from my favorite group of all time).

This group is as alive as it has ever been and it will only get better in the years to come. Thanks for all of the warm welcomes and new friendships.

Also, a belated Happy Canada Day to you. Smile

I tried to found out about the other sponsor that may be interested in pairing with Joey for next season, but came up empty. I mentioned SportClips and my source was noncommittal.

The simplicity in me is complicated.

RE: Joe Gibbs Plans To Resign Joey For 2013
not good
look at this article on jayskis (pay attention to the bottom

Hornish would like to drive the #22 if......: Sam Hornish Jr. has let Penske Racing officials know he is interested in driving the #22 Sprint Cup car full time if AJ Allmendinger's suspension becomes lengthy. Allmendinger was "temporarily suspended" by NASCAR prior to Saturday night's Sprint Cup race at Daytona International Speedway because he failed a drug test. He has requested a test of the "B" sample of the test he took the previous week at Kentucky. If that test comes back negative, Allmendinger will be re-instated. If that test supports the "A" test, which typically is the case, then Allmendinger would have to go through NASCAR's Road to Recovery program that likely would keep him out at least through the rest of this season. Hornish was a last-minute replacement for Allmendinger at Daytona, finishing 33rd after a blown tire midway through the race all but ended his night. He was tabbed on Monday to drive this weekend at New Hampshire. "This is definitely not the way that I would like to do it," Hornish said of getting back in a Cup car. "But at the end of the day, I feel like with the way things have been in racing lately, I feel like you take what you can get at this point and time." Hornish said he texted team owner Roger Penske on Sunday morning to let him know he was available if Allmendinger's suspension lingered the rest of this season and into 2013. He was adamant it was not out of disrespect to Allmendinger, whose contract ends after this season. There has been speculation that Nationwide sponsors, led by Alliance Truck Parts, might follow Hornish into Cup next year. But there are no guarantees like there would be with #22 sponsored by Shell Pennzoil, which sponsored Hornish during his IndyCar championship runs in 2001 and 2002. He said Penske won't make a decision on the rest of the 22 schedule until the "B" sample results are in -- likely by the end of this week -- noting there will be plenty of time because Cup has as week off after this weekend (ESPN).
AND other drivers supposedly under consideration for the #22 ride in 2013 if Allmendinger doesn't return to the ride include Trevor Bayne, currently driving part time in the NNS for Roush Fenway Racing and in Sprint Cup Series part time for #21 Wood Brothers Racing and Joey Logano, who is likely out of the #20 Joe Gibbs Racing ride after this season with Matt Kenseth taking over the #20 Toyota with Home Depot and Dollar General remaining as the sponsors for the #20 JGR team.(7-10-2012)

RE: Joe Gibbs Plans To Resign Joey For 2013
Nothing is "guaranteed" until the papers are signed. I do believe though that if the B sample comes out positive, and Aj is on the outside looking in, it does give Joey more "options" for his future. But.... in the end I think that #22 seat would go to Hornish due to his loyalties to Penske and Roger's close relationship with Hornish.

I am positive Joey wants to stay with JGR, and that JGR wants him. Let's just hope that the sponsors sign the ink as well.

If Shell wants Joey in their car Hornishs loyalty to Penske doesn't matter. Sponsors choose who's in the car. I still think Joey stays but want to hear it soon otherwise at least Joey has Cup option

Tough day at the office? Getting too concerned over a bunch of rumors? Hey, don't let it get you down. Nothing has changed, just so you know. Smile

I like Jay Adamczyk (Jayski) - he provides a valuable service, but his speculations rarely produce the anticipated outcome(s). In this instance, he is wrong.

Be of good cheer my friends. Big Grin

RE: Joe Gibbs Plans To Resign Joey For 2013
from jayskis

Logano's quotes on future: from a Toyota Notes & Quotes Transcript:
Q) Do you feel more pressure to make the Chase or from the uncertainty of your future?
Logano: "I think you feel pressure from both ends. You want to be able to focus 100 percent on what you're doing -- right now, trying to make the Chase. During the week, we're trying to figure out what my future is going to be and I'm trying to prepare myself for the weekend and then when we get here, I put all that stuff in the back of my mind and then focus 100 percent on what I have going on this weekend in trying to win a race. I say it all the time -- winning races will make all the other stuff come along a lot quicker. We're getting there slowly but surely."
Q) Do you feel like you control your destiny more to make the Chase or determine your future? Logano: "I don't know. Obviously, racing itself on one side of it out there on the race track, you can only control so much of your destiny out there, but you can control it quite a bit. If you can control it on the racing side, you can control it on the other side too. As long as I keep doing what we've been doing on the race track with all the top-10s we've got and top-fives and with that win -- being near that Chase spot makes you want it a little bit more. We have to keep working on that."
Q) Have you made contact with Penske Racing for next season?
Logano: "Obviously, right now we look at all our options out there in trying to do whatever we can do to have the best opportunity for my future. That's talking to as many people as we can and seeing what's available."(Toyota Notes & Quotes)(7-13-2012)

RE: Joe Gibbs Plans To Resign Joey For 2013
Matt Kenseth will drive for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2013, but according to multiple sources, the Sprint Cup points leader can't talk about it until mid- to late-August at the earliest due to a stipulation in his current contract with Roush Fenway Racing.

Joe Gibbs Racing president J.D. Gibbs declined on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to comment on Kenseth's situation. But Gibbs said the goal was to have four teams in 2013, and that every effort was being made to re-sign Joey Logano, whose contract expires after this season, if sponsorship can be found.

"We want him to retire at JGR," Gibbs said. "We're trying to figure out how to make all of that work."

Sources said Kenseth would take over the Home Depot and likely Dollar General sponsors currently on Logano's No. 20 Toyota. They left open the possibility of Kenseth running the No. 20 or another number.

Sources said JGR has looked at several options for Logano, from running a full-time Nationwide schedule and part-time Cup schedule to running a full-time Cup schedule with a part-time or full-time Nationwide slate.

"We've talked a number of different potentials, but obviously we'd like him to be in Cup full-time," Gibbs said.

“He’s quite a bit better (than in past years),” Hamlin says. “The gap between myself and Kyle and Joey has closed dramatically. Joey is a legitimate teammate now.

“We’re using information from him. I have more trust in him now than what I ever had. Really, we’re using information from him that I would say last year I would never do.”

“I don't feel like we're the third guy anymore,” Logano says. “I feel like we are more of an equal out there. So I think that gives you more confidence in your meetings and I think they listen to you more in the meetings.
