Hot rumour from a credible source
Looks as though Jeff Gordon's back problems are indeed getting the best of him. Gordon turns 38 text Month and has been recently quoted as saying "I won't be racing at 41 i don't know about 40" The final contract with long time sponsor Dupont expires after the 2010 season and it is believed that Jeff will retire or at least reduce his schedule following the 2010 season. With Brad Keselowski rumoured to be going to Stewart Hass racing in 2010 look for HMS Prospect and 2008 Nationwide series rookie of the year Landon Cassill to take a full time ride with HMS in the Nationwide series in 2010 either in the 5 or the 88 and to take over the 24 HMS cup car in 2011. Take it to the bank!
Many Nascar news sources have reported on this including Captain thunder racing.

Aw, poor Jeff. It stinks that such a great driver has to suffer through that.
