Hes started from the last starting spot a few times and has made his way forward through the field. The next two weeks, great chances at a 2nd win this year in the cup series.

I've had a strong feeling about this race for weeks now. It's a big flat track like Pocono (which they go to again after this race). These would be the two races I could see Joey winning out of the remaining tracks until the chase cutoff.

I think top 10s and better would cut it as long as no one else outside of the top 10 wins a race. Off course another win would change a lot of things. However... assuming that no one else wins outside of the top 10 in the next 7 races.. having a better average finish than Kyle, and Ryan will get it done.

With Bristol and Richmond coming up (2 tracks that kyle dominates), top 10's won't do alone. He's going to need another win, and then the team needs to figure out how to be more balanced at the mile and a half tracks.

Is handling or straight line speed more important?

“It’s handling for sure. Straight line speed here is obviously important, but it’s not like handling. Track position is going to be the biggest name of the game.”

Were you hoping for more cloud cover during your qualifying lap?

“We caught the sun, we didn’t catch the clouds. Our Dollar General Camry, we worked on it hard in practice, but we needed a lot of work on it. It’s getting better and it’s getting closer and closer. Hopefully, by the time the race starts we’ll be good.”

How important is it to qualify well at Indianapolis?

“I’ve blown up in practice here twice and had to start in the back, and I know it’s really, really hard and it takes all day to get up there. So starting towards the front is going to be — I think it’s more important here than probably anywhere we go. So it should help.

im still worried because if hes starting 3rd that means 2nd practice was in qualifying trim and that hes 35th in race trim

2nd practice wasn't all q trim. Once they posted the fast lap they went back to race trim.

Trouble on left front that stop costs 15 spots on pit road. Now p21. Team will have some work to do to get back to front

Was happy to have him start 3rd..but as soon as the green flag dropped he dropped 2-3 spots. Then that bullshit in the pits.. And even after the bad pit stop every restart he was losing positions. I mean on 1 restart he started 13 and went to 17-18th before he even finished 1 lap.

It was a nice run to the Chase but lets be honest and say hes done. I want to know where he's going to be next year. People that say " I have a good feeling about this track" don't follow his past stats. They dont understand racing. Sure he can win at Pocono again...but I bet this time around its gonna be a 15-20th place finish.
